"Clear Rewards" was a direct marketing loyalty program for the New York region, implemented with the goal of reducing deactivation rates of Sprint PCS plans by offering existing customers several third-party services at discounted rates. Such services included offers from local companies such as as 1800-flowers.com, Timothy's Coffee, and Golf Digest.

Execution of this direct response initiative presented three critical challenges: Staying within the established Sprint PCS branding guidelines; targeting the message and feel specifically to the NY metro area; and combining a volume of information into an attractive, easy-to-read package. Suazion's solution included an initial mailing containing a "Clear Rewards" membership card and several inserts detailing third-party offers, as well as creation of coordinating package components such as stationery and envelopes. As follow-up, Suazion created three branded postcards, sent out at one-month intervals after the initial mailing. Extensive local advertising, including billboards, phone kiosk, and subway ads, further supported the loyalty program. "We had great results from the very beginning. Our deactivation rate was cut in half over a period of three months," summarizes Lisa Walsh, Senior Marketing Analyst for Sprint PCS.
